Called Rich after my furnace gave out during a cold front and after another company couldn't fix the underlying problem after 3 different visits. He came soon after I called and worked for a few hours fixing the board on the furnace, and then tested the CO emissions in the exhaust of the furnace. He even came again the following week to fine tune the gas pressure on the furnace and give it a good cleaning. The previous owners were not cleanly and didn't take care of things well, so it needed some TLC. Rich was honest and courteous to me, answered any questions I had, and I couldn't be happier with his service. I will definitely be calling him for any future HVAC services!

Our experience with Rich was quit refreshing. After being told by 3 different major companies that we had to replace our air conditioning unit , furnace, and condenser, here comes Rich with true honesty and expertise. He told us to let him see if he could fix the problem before replacing anything. We already had been without air conditioning for about 2 -3 weeks, it was August and we have 4 kids, so at this point we were desperate. It was becoming unbearable to stay in the house any longer due to the heat. After spending 2 hours testing everything inside and out he figured out the problem and temporality fixed our system. That night we all slept comfortable and could breath easier. He came the next day with the piece that needed to be replaced and now it’s November and still my system works perfectly fine. You don’t find people like Rich every day, who are honest, hard working and very reasonable with the price. I would recommend him to anyone who has any air conditioning or heating problems. Recently I experienced a last minute issue with my air conditioning right before closing on my house. In a panic the night before I reached out to Rich at D & R Airconditioning leaving a voice mail to urgently request a call back. He indeed did call back to my relief only a short time later. I really wasn’t expecting him to do so at all actually since the hour was late in the day on a Sunday. Not only did he call back and listened to my problem, but made over the phone suggestions as well. Unfortunately it didn’t help though. Rich realizing that the situation required a quick turnaround was very responsive and suggested that he might be able to come the next day but not until maybe noon as he had another appointment in the morning. Time was of the essence and crucial that the issue needed to be resolved fast or perhaps the closing would be in jeopardy. He assured me that he would come at 12 definitely. 

The next day, lo and behold, there he was at my doorstep. Not at 12 noon but at 9 in the morning! He was like an angel to the rescue. Not only did he work fast to try to find the solution but unfortunately he found no issue with any of the components. But being the best A/C guy there is he identified the culprit. It was simply a faulty electrical connection in the thermostat. His quick thinking solved the problem shortly. Needless to say he saved the day. We were able to close with not a worry that day and all a result of the professional and understanding qualities of this person. Rich was not only prompt but smart and absolutely knows his stuff. 

Need anything A/C related? Never, ever call anyone else. He is simply the best!!! Thanks again Rich!!! You’re the best!

I've been holding off on leaving this review because I wanted to be able to honestly evaluate our new system in a variety of different weather conditions.

Our AC (original) finally bit the dust during the two hottest weeks of summer 2017. We were in prime position to be taken advantage of. We met with quite a few different contractors; some were nice, but most were just interested in the pitch and the sale (or just shady), if they bothered to call us back at all. Rich was the first person to follow up and come out. He was one of the very few to proactively follow up on that initial visit to see if he could answer anything else for us.

Rich was not pushy, and was VERY patient about answering my many questions. He was the only person willing to provide direct references when asked, and following up with those references it was remarkable to see the extraordinary relationship he had forged with his customers, most of whom he had done business with for a very long time. He does not push upselling at all and had recommended a basic unit that would work. We were interested in upgrading our system beyond just the basics, and he was very helpful in helping us find which upgrades would be best suited for our needs/wants and which were less practical given our home layout/local coding regulations (HE furnace; there were issues with our venting that could have made it a very involved job). He was also scrupulous in his load cost calculations to make sure we were getting units that were correctly sized. This was a huge relief, especially after encountering so many contractors pushing oversized units.

Upgrading our thermostat to make sure we could take advantage of the full functionality of a dual-stage furnace required a little research on his part, but he followed through and it ran perfectly all throughout this insanely cold (and long) winter. He also upgraded our AC drainage lines during installation of the condensate pump, made sure our coolant line was appropriately sized, and replaced all of the cobbled together (and out of code) ductwork for both our furnace and hot water heater. I'm not an HVAC expert by any means, but I was struck by how clean and neat the installation was; the finished install was so tight and clean, I really wish I had taken a "before" picture to show just how much better Rich's work was. Installation ran over by a half-a-day, but I wasn't bothered by this at all because the quality of his work was obviously very high. He kept his workspace extremely clean and his assistant Joe even patched up the few small holes cut in the drywall where the coolant line was replaced. His communication was always excellent and he was extremely responsive before, during, and after completion of the job. 

Our town is extremely tough on code enforcement, and there was literally nothing that the inspector found fault with in terms of the installation. We passed inspection on the AC and furnace easily. Rich also helped us coordinate the CoolAdvantage reimbursement that we were eligible for after the AC installation (he was also very careful to make sure our selected coil/condenser/furnace blower combo would be eligible for reimbursement) and made the submission process so much easier. Our AC ran fantastically last summer and there were no issues whatsoever; and the house was always comfortable. This past winter was a real test of the furnace, and I shudder to think about how the old one would have fared. We kept the house much warmer than previous years (by nearly 5 degrees!) and saw bills that were nearly the same in substantially harsher outside temperatures.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Rich. I am confident in his abilities and know that any future issues that we may encounter will be in good hands with him. My husband and I have done a lot of work on our home, and I wish that every contractor we've dealt with had the integrity and craftmanship that Rich has! Thank you so much for a job well done.

Just had a new HVAC system installed by D & R. After receiving 3 different quotes D & R was the most reasonably priced by far. The install went perfect and in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend D & R as you wont go wrong. In fact after the install was done, I had another vendor in the house to repair a gas dryer who happened to do HVAC too. While he was repairing our dryer he noticed the new HVAC system and commented on how impressed he was by the install. If I could I would give D&R stars.

Rich converted my old hot air furnace to baseboard and radiant heat. My wife loves it and I am saving over $100 per month. It also help with my kids' allergies. The old hot air furnace was really tough on the allergies. He also split the air conditioning into two zones. Upstairs and down. I am saving another $100 per month on electric too. On top of all that, D & R filled out all the paperwork and got me $1500 in rebates from the Electric and Gas Company. I would definitely recommend them to all family and friends.

We've been using D & R for many years and I've never met a more trustworthy contractor than Rich. Over the years, he has put in our AC unit, furnace, humidifier, hot water heater and, after Super Storm Sandy, our new whole house gas generator. Very rarely does it work out that the most cost effective option is also the best option, but I found that to be the case with D & R. I do a lot of research to find the right contractor for major purchases/home improvements and, when I do, I'm very demanding. Rich has met the challenge every single time, so, now, I don't even hesitate to use him for whatever he does. When I started my research for the whole house generator, I was about to make my choice, when I found out he was getting into that business. I immediately requested a quote, but I already knew that he was going to be my final choice (to no surprise, his quote was considerably better). He also maintains all of this equipment and never recommends anything that you don't need. In fact, he's almost apologetic, if something has to be replaced, due to wear and tear. I personally guarantee that you'll be happy if you choose this company for your Heating & AC needs (and now generators).

I became a first time home owner at the age of 60 and as a result of the home inspection, I knew that I would need to replace the entire HVAC system as well as have a dual register A/C unit installed in the upstairs bedroom. I began researching a new high efficiency furnace and central air for my home to replace my 21 year old system this Spring. I interviewed a number of local companies.
